A Journey Through BASC's Rich History and Evolution
The institution began as Plaridel Community Agricultural High School in Bintog, Plaridel, Bulacan, initially serving 100 students. It was soon renamed Bulacan Provincial Agricultural High School.
Following the nationalization of agricultural schools, the institution became the Bulacan National Agricultural High School (BNAHS).
Proclamation 163 allocated approximately 192.5 hectares of the Buenavista Estate in San Ildefonso, Bulacan, for BNAHS.
On June 21, 1959, BNAHS was converted into the Bulacan National Agricultural School (BuNAS) through Republic Act 2416.
Nearly four decades later, on February 24, 1998, BuNAS was elevated to a state college by virtue of Republic Act No. 8548, becoming Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC).
The DRT Campus was established in Brgy. Sapang Bulak, Doña Remedios Trinidad (3rd District), expanding BASC's reach across Bulacan.
BASC achieved Level III status as per Commission on Higher Education Memorandum Order No. 09, s. 2019, becoming one of 55 out of 106 State Universities and Colleges in the Philippines with this distinction.
Through the initiative of Congresswoman Lorna C. Silverio, House Bill 8111 for converting BASC into Bulacan State Agricultural University passed the House of Representatives and was approved in the First Reading at the Senate under Senate Bill 2106.
As the first and only state-run higher educational institution focusing on agriculture in Bulacan, BASC has been a cornerstone for providing quality education to underprivileged yet deserving students in the province and the entire Central Luzon Region.
BASC is among the 55 out of 106 State Universities and Colleges in the Philippines that have achieved Level III status, as per Commission on Higher Education Memorandum Order No. 09, s. 2019.
BASC operates three campuses and offers extension programs across three of Bulacan's six legislative districts, making quality agricultural education accessible throughout the province.
Through the initiative of Congresswoman Lorna C. Silverio, House Bill 8111 for converting BASC into Bulacan State Agricultural University has successfully passed the House of Representatives and been approved in the First Reading at the Senate.
